How We Communicate: Community

In addition to the focus that Tuckahoe Union Free School District puts on its communication with parents/guardians, the district also offers the following modes of communication accessible to all residents of the district.

  •  Websites

eChalk is the content management system that houses the district and school websites, as well as our teacher websites. It features live calendars and content including up-to-date news and announcements as well as useful student and parent resources for curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

  •  Live Streaming & Televised Events

Board of Education meetings and other important events are live streamed through a Quick Link on the district website homepage for instantaneous viewing of the events.

The district features Board of Education meetings and other important events on Cable TV Channel 77 and Verizon Fios 27, both live and re-broadcasted.

  •   BoardDocs

BoardDocs is an internet-based solution that makes Board of Education meeting agendas, supporting documents, meeting minutes and the Board policy manual available through the Internet. This allows for quicker and more efficient distribution of documents associated with board meetings, at a dramatically reduced cost to the district. It also enables increased transparency and communication with the public as well as access to best practices from other districts that are using the system.

These features can be accessed via the Board of Education tab on the district’s website  or BoardDocs .

  •  Budget Presentations

During budget season (April-May) the Superintendent and School Business Administrator present the proposed budget at different locations throughout the district as a forum for information and questions. These presentations are published on the district website.

  •  Resident Only Email List

TUFSD offers residents without children in our schools the ability to receive emails with information that may be relevant to them. This includes: Board of Ed meeting reminders, budget presentation information, and periodic notices of happenings that may be of interest (school plays, athletic events, etc.).   •  Social Media 

TUFSD uses Facebook and Twitter to communicate out the positive activities, events, student work and lessons happening in our district. These tools allow us to offer the community a glimpse at the learning taking place inside our school buildings every day.
